OUR
PROGRAMS

Our programs—KIDsCAN! and Kickoff to Courage—support children navigating a parent or caregiver’s cancer diagnosis through peer connection, empathy-building, and emotional learning. Led by hospital staff, these gatherings offer age-appropriate education and a safe space for kids to share, ask questions, and feel understood. Together, they help children build resilience and find community during a difficult time.

kidscan!

KidsCAN! is a peer empathy, education, and emotional social learning program for children who have a parent or primary caregiver battling cancer. These support programs include gatherings run by hospital staff where children learn about their parent or primary caregiver’s diagnosis with age-appropriate lessons and emotional support.

kickoff
to Courage

Kickoff to Courage provides free copies of A Kids Book About Cancer to children navigating a parent or primary caregiver’s cancer diagnosis. This resource offers comfort, understanding, and connection through hospitals and home delivery when families need it most.

Memory Making Events

Our memory-making events offer families the opportunity to do something joyful and special, such as social gatherings, museum visits, sporting events, and more. We give families the space to play and make new memories, even while undergoing the stress of cancer treatments.

kidscan!
alumni scholarship

Cancer takes a financial toll on families, and our KidsCAN! Alumni scholarship program works to lessen the financial burden of higher education. Our scholarships are available to program alumni when they apply to an accredited community college, trade school, vocational program, college, or university. We have seen the positive impact that alumni carry into their adulthood, and we’re excited to support them as they continue their journeys.

partnerships

We provide financial support to partner organizations that operate programs for children of parents with cancer. One example is our partnership with Kesem, a national program that connects kids with their peers and hosts children ages 6-16 for a weeklong camp experience, giving them space to connect with others going through a similar experience.
